Overview

What is DIR-3-KYC-WEB?

DIR-3-KYC-WEB refers to the web-based KYC process for an existing DIN holder whose KYC particulars are already available with MCA and who needs to complete the applicable KYC/confirmation process. It is different from applying for a new DIN.

Web-Based Route for Existing DIN Holders

Used where MCA records for the DIN are already available and the KYC process can be completed online.

Personal Mobile & Email Updates

MCA specifically requires updates to personal mobile number or email address to be made through DIR-3-KYC.

Route for DIN Regularisation

Where a DIN is deactivated specifically due to KYC non-filing, the applicable overdue KYC process can be used for regularisation.

Timeline

DIR-3-KYC Due Date

A person allotted DIN up to 31 March of a financial year is required to file the applicable KYC webform by 30 September of the immediately following financial year. The actual applicability should be checked against the DIN's status and current MCA requirements.

DIN allotted up to 31 March KYC due by 30 September, next financial year Additional fee may apply after due date Repeat mobile/email change may attract ₹500 fee

Special Situation

DIN Deactivated Due to Non-Filing of KYC

MCA's current instructions specifically recognise the DIN status "Deactivated due to non-filing of DIR-3-KYC." Where this is the reason, the applicable overdue KYC process can be used to regularise the DIN.

01

Check DIN Status First

Always verify the exact reason for deactivation before assuming the applicable remedy.

02

KYC-Specific Deactivation

Only DINs deactivated specifically for KYC non-filing can be regularised through this route.

03

Overdue KYC Filing

The applicable overdue KYC webform is filed to begin the regularisation process.

04

Applicable Fee Payment

Where required, the prescribed additional fee is paid as per the current MCA system.

05

Not a Universal Fix

DIR-3-KYC should not be treated as a method for reactivating every type of deactivated DIN.

06

Other Deactivation Reasons

If deactivated for another statutory reason, a different compliance or remedy may be required.

Avoid These Errors

Common DIR-3-KYC Filing Mistakes

Name or PAN details not matching applicable records
Using a mobile number or email that is not the DIN holder's own
DSC expired, revoked, or not registered on MCA
Assuming every deactivated DIN can be reactivated the same way
Address entered not matching the supporting document
Missing the prescribed 30 September filing deadline
